About Winsome, Etc.

Winsome, etc. started in 1983 with the purchase of "just one" mini. Having been in BIG horses since I was six, having a mini satisfied my need to smell, brush, and love a four-legged thing that whinnied. Of course, I was hooked and after she won Champion Mare in her first show (I believe there were 12 total horses) I just had to breed her.

My goal when I first started breeding is the same as today: Winsome, etc. will become one of the top breeders of national contenders, while not exceeding 8 permanent horses. I am very proud of my progress toward this goal.

I own 4 mature mares, each chosen for overall type, balance and correctness. Among them is a multi-Top Ten mare. Show records on the others are impressive.

The mare’s strengths have been complimented by the outstanding stallions I’ve enjoyed owning. Prior to 2000 most of my foals were by Sierra Dawn Unos Monarch, purchased from Winsome by Scott Creek Miniature Horses in 2001. Since 2002, I retained one of his great sons, Winsome Monarch Sock It To Em, who was sold last year to New Zealand.

Now my chosen stallion is Winsome Monarchs Best Foot Forward (See Stallions). I am very excited to see the foals that will be produced by "Devon" and my outstanding mares.

I recently purchased JSW Zorros Huckleberry Bey as a potential performance horse and sire. (See Stallions). I am very happy to own this outstanding colt.
